A threatening visitor arrives on site

Last summer, a threatening visitor came to the front yard of the Développement Côte-de-Beaupré building. The employee at the building's reception desk feared for the safety of the people on the site.

The building had recently been equipped with an alarm system that works with a panic button connected to the GardaWorld Security Systems monitoring centre. The employee used the new emergency button to call for help.

Quick response from the monitoring centre

As soon as the GardaWorld monitoring centre operator received the alarm, he dealt with it by alerting local police officers, who arrived on the scene within a short period of time (about four minutes) to subdue the threatening person.

The effectiveness of the security system and the GardaWorld monitoring centre operators, according to Mr. Bernard Paré, General Director, Développement Côte-de-Beaupré, mitigated the risk posed by the threatening and potentially dangerous individual while maintaining the safety of those at the site.

“We are happy to give credit to what happened and its success”, says Mr. Bernard Paré, “because we have been extremely satisfied and appreciative of the service provided by GardaWorld since the system was installed.

We have had several alarm situations afterwards, which turned out to be unfounded, but which nevertheless tested the effectiveness of the security system.

We have learned, with the help and professionalism of the GardaWorld monitoring centre operators, to better use the system and manage it in a more efficient and useful way to improve our security.”

What is the purpose of the panic button?

The panic button is an essential component of an alarm system, adding to your safety. Whether the alarm system is armed or not, when the panic button is pressed, it will trigger a signal to the monitoring centre. The monitoring centre operators then contact the police or other emergency services who then respond on site.
